Sam Mendes et Bong Joon-ho se partagent le prix du meilleur réalisateur.
A quelques heures de l’annonce des nominations aux Oscars, qui seront dévoilées ce lundi, les Critics Choice Awards se déroulaient cette nuit à Los Angeles. L’occasion de prendre une dernière fois la température dans ce sprint final de la saison des prix. Regroupant l’avis de 400 médias (télévision, radio, presse en ligne…), les CCA sont généralement un bon indicateur.
A la différence des Oscars, cependant, Critics Choice Awards peuvent déboucher sur des ex-aequo. Ce qui s’est produit pour le prix du meilleur réalisateur, qui est partagé par Sam Mendes (1917) et Bong Joon-ho, qui a bien sûr également empoché le meilleur film étranger pour Parasite. De quoi faire fantasmer les fans du réalisateur coréen qui rêvent de le voir soulever l’Academy Awars du "best director" le 9 février prochain (ce qui reste peu probable).
Contrairement aux Golden Globes, Sam Mendes ne fait donc pas coup de double puisque c’est Once Upon a Time in Hollywood qui s’impose cette fois dans la catégorie meilleur film. Signe que le long-métrage de Quentin Tarantino est encore dans la course pour l’Oscar suprême. Pour les acteurs et actrices, en revanche, il n’y a plus guère d’incertitude : comme aux Golden Globes, Joaquin Phoenix (meilleur acteur), Renée Zellwegger (meilleure actrice), Brad Pitt (meilleur second rôle masculin) et Laura Dern (meilleur second rôle féminin) repartent vainqueurs des CCA. On devrait retrouver le même quatuor gagnant aux Oscars.
